Ferro-Alloy Resources

A low-cost vanadium producer emerging in Kazakhstan

Ferro-Alloy Resources is developing the giant Balasausqandiq deposit in the Kyzlorda Oblast of Southern Kazakhstan

Project

Balasausqandiq is a two phase vanadium project with significant by-products targeting a planned annual output of 22,400 tonnes of vanadium pentoxide

Deposit

Unlike nearly all other vanadium operations, the deposit is sedimentary with a high grade of vanadium that can be extracted without the need for pre-concentration or roasting, both of which are energy intensive and expensive

Geology

A very large deposit made up of a number of ore-bodies that outcrop at the surface and that can be mined by open pit

Environmental

Strong ESG credentials and projected lower CO2 emissions than other primary vanadium producers

Battery Energy Storage

A major new use of vanadium is now emerging as the electrolyte in Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries, used for long term energy storage.

Balasausqandiq is going to transform the global vanadium market by becoming one of the world’s largest, and almost certainly lowest-cost producers of vanadium, a metal critical to high strength alloys and large scale energy storage.
